Christian reviews a fan’s 5-watch collection, but would we swap anything out?

Here are the watches:

Vintage IWC Cal. 89 Approx. 1963
First up we have a beautiful vintage IWC Cal. 89 from approximately 1963, a classy, understated and undervalued piece in every sense. It functions as Wayne’s dress watch, and oh what a dress watch it is.

Tag Heuer Carrera Re-Edition – CS3113 – Black dial with Daytona Rings
Next up we have the Heuer Carrera Re-Edition, a simple, classic 36mm chronograph designed after the original Heuer Carrera from the 1960s. Dollar for dollar, this watch is nearly impossible to beat, and it’s a look we wish Heuer would return to in this size more often.

Tudor Black Bay 58 with Bracelet & Nato
From Tag, we move to Tudor, with the Black Bay 58, a fan favorite release and one that sent the watch world into a bit of a frenzy upon its announcement. it’s perhaps the perfect, do everything sport watch, and its certainly hard to beat for the money.

Rolex Datejust 116234 – Blue Dial
As far as Datejusts go, there’s something about that modern, blue dial that just hits different. It’s a mammoth player in any collection, but it can come across as a bit redundant with the inclusion of his final watch, the Royal Oak “Owl.”

Here we have a watch that is everything a kind of “make me feel rich” watch should be. It’s a luxury sport watch in steel with a bracelet, made by one of the foremost watchmakers in the world, and it features an incredibly useful day date complication. Between this and the Rolex, this one is by far the keeper.

So what’s the recommendation then? Two places Wayne could go are, sticking with Rolex, an 80s or 90s Day-Date in white gold with any number of insane dials, or with JLC, whose Master collection is, by and large, some of the best value on the market, and would introduce a top manufacturer into the collection that doesn’t currently reside there.
