On the Rolex Cellini:
Rolex will certainly be pumping more into the Cellini line in the years to come. Competing near the range of the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia, VC Patrimony, and the Patek Philippe Calatrava (roughly $14k), the Cellini, provided there is a slightly greater investment by Rolex, does stand a chance to hold their own in that market. At the end of the day, Rolex, and therefore the Cellini, may have more international brand equity than maybe all of the other brands.
On the Rolex Explorer:
Is an explorer a good Datejust alternative? Yes. If you’re looking for vintage proportions, (typically 36 mm), and you want a sportier look than the Datejust, the Explorer I will fit you well.
Patek Philippe Aquanaut v. Audemars Piguet 15300:
The proportions on the AP 15300 are dissimilar to the original Royal Oak, which is one of the most important features of the watch (less important than movement, to most people). The Patek Philippe Aquanaut sacrifices nothing in the areas of design, movement, and build, so the watch beats the Audemars Piguet.
