In this week’s episode of ASKTNH LIVE, Christian tackles the hardest hitting questions of the week from the watchfam over on our Instagram (@theoandharris, wink wink).

Our first question comes in the form of vintage Russian watches, and what we think of them. The short answer is this – we just aren’t familiar enough to tell good from bad from downright hysterical, but we know one or two people that are really well versed in the area and could probably speak with more authority than we could. Next, a quick note on the Black Bay Bronze versus the standard steel – in short, it’s freaking awesome, and where Tudor succeeds is not making the new case material a gimmick (unlike AP, who’ve released the Royal Oak in every conceivable metal and then some, and it just comes across as boring at this point).

From there, we talk about whether the vintage Datejust is an underrated watch in comparison to the vintage Submariner – and the answer is yes/no. Yes, because as a piece in general it’s underrated and undervalued, but no insofar as the vintage Sub will always be the more “valuable” watch because of its 40mm case and dive watch build. It should absolutely be a bigger deal than it is, but so should the vintage Sub. Last, but certainly not least, we talk about the Bucherer buyout of Tourneau, a pretty unexpected turn of events when it comes to the buyout itself. Tourneau was hurting, and Bucherer saw an opportunity to consolidate the market some, which does make you wonder what Tourneau will do differently with Bucherer at the helm.
