A. Lange & Söhne is re-releasing four of their most popular watches, the Saxonia, Saxon Automatic, Lange I, Lange I Daymatic, in white gold and deep blue. Frankly, A. Lange & Söhne makes some of the best watches on the market. They’re incredibly finished, impressively constructed, designed impeccably, and a true gentlemen’s watch. The watches are just awesome. But – and this isn’t a deal-breaking but – they are very expensive and the value is in elements that the mass public does not see. Even watch geeks can overlook what makes Lange really valuable.
For that reason, it was a genius move for Lange to release four watches in blue, giving off a much more casual vibe than the often less-approachable white dials. Yes, the price is still very high. But at least the blue dial is more of a conversation starter.
This Famille Perrin Cotes du Rhone is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. The deep color is great, with a strong black fruit scent on the nose. This $12 bottle has a soft tannin with soft black fruit flavors. It has a nice acidic backbone. It’s a fantastic wine to pair with your chilly fall meals – beef, lamb, pork. It’s strong but it doesn’t bite too hard.
