Check out this Omega Seamaster HERE!
From the wrist of John F Kennedy to the moon, Omega means something special. Not only has the company been in production since 1848 but they’ve played major roles in America, and the world since.
This example dates to 1958 and it just hit the Theo & Harris watch shop.
It’s an Omega Seamaster Calendar Reference 315.164 in 18 karat gold and I can’t get enough of it.
The Seamaster is one of the first watches that T&H taught me to love – they’re classic in design, extremely well built and historically significant. And more than that, when you buy one, you’re getting a TON of thunder for you buck. I love a Seamster because they’re completely unassuming. They claim no status, only style and respect for history, tasteful design, and practical mechanics. It’s for hard core watch collectors – for the sentimental – like Christian. But guess what. It’s also for NY taxi cab drivers – like Christian’s grand father – a practical man who works with his hands in the dirt, who couldn’t be more unsentimental about belongings or displaying his status. A Seamaster is an “everyone” watch.
This example is not only built robustly, fully functioning, and gracefully packing all of the Seamaster punch, it’s got some extra character.
It’s originally champagne dial has muted by exposure to the sun over the last 60 years. It’s almost matte – with little pops of patina – making an even more unassuming and gorgeous dial. The lemon hue of the dial is a beautiful gradient backdrop for the rich gold hands, markers, and case that surround it.
The automatic caliber 503 powers its broad dauphine hands and reliably so. Its case is in remarkable condition. It wears 60 years of age well, without any significant nicks or scratches. And, as expected, its solid gold screw down casebook is engraved with the classic Seamaster logo.
Omega has always, and will always manufacture watches to be proud of, watches to rely on. Whether your checking off the dress watch box, gifting something vintage and gold, showing off to your watch geek pals, or seeking a sturdy, tasteful companion for your one piece – this Seamaster is for you.
