Check it out in the watch shop!
There is no complication more collectible than the chronograph, especially in the world of vintage. That being said, let me introduce you to this – a Lanco. While you’ve probably never heard the name “Lanco” before, this piece has some of the bones and fun intricacies to be a true collectors item. Worn with denim or khakis – take your pick.
While the chronograph now is perceived as a somewhat irrelevant tool, this little stopwatch changed the tool world – especially since you could house it not only in your pocket, but on your wrist. From resetting mechanisms to central second hands and 30 second sub-registers, 2 o’clock pushers, rotating bezels, tachymeter scales, flyback function, each new (even minor) addition made the chronograph more practical and smarter – and everyone was in on it. Companions to pilots, astronauts, and many tasteful watchgeeks, chronographs are exploring tools, gaming counterparts and honestly, just freaking cool.
Back to this Lanco – it’s an oversized piece at 37mm and it features beautifully faceted lugs, which add to its substantial presence on the wrist. It’s powered by the venerable valjoux 7734 manually wound caliber and, in case you haven’t noticed, both its subdials and tachymetre have turned to a beautifully milky chocolate from their original black – a product of decades of exposure to the sun.
It’s no-name pieces like this that get lost in cabinet drawers. But its the beauty, robustness, and historical significance that make it our pleasure to source them and find them new homes.
We couldn’t be more proud to be sharing this Lanco with you, enjoy!!
