From The Curator
Before Domino’s had the bright idea to incentivize franchisees to break sales records with Rolex Air Kings, Henry Ford II gifted watches to star employees when the famed American car manufacturer celebrated its 75 year anniversary.
And this gem, which was originally gifted to a gentleman named Bud Fette, who had opened his Ford dealership in New Jersey in 1952, is proof of that not-so-little gesture of gratitude.
An absolute time capsule, this octagonal Cartier is cased in solid 18k yellow gold, topped with a sunburst dial and accented with diamond hour markers. Not only is it gorgeous, but it’s absolutely opulent for a Cartier. It’s clear that Mr. Ford certainly didn’t take the cheap way out!
And of course, it comes complete with a certificate of authenticity and appraisal and is shipped carefully and fully insured.
