This is one of the first watches I fell in love with. Even back in high school, I was so fascinated by the case – the way it flips so easily around, unlike (almost) any other watch. Introduced in 1933, the Basculante has long lived in the shadow of the Reverso by Jaeger LeCoultre. But, although less famous, the Basculante is its own watch, not a spinoff. Its flipping mechanism not only protects the dial, like the Reverso, but allows for the dial to stand straight up and function as a table clock (as seen in the photos).
