FROM THE CURATOR
The 1970’s ushered in the era of the luxury sports watch. Our understanding of luxury style evolved into a more casual, athletic aesthetic. The trailblazer in the genre, Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak, merged industrial design with ultra fine watchmaking and the market followed. But decades later, only a small handful of the designs remain iconic, Piaget’s Polo among them.
Released in 1979, this brainchild of Yves Piaget was exceptional, even amongst other sports luxury watches. Instantly recognizable, the Polo achieved the sporty, industrial aesthetic but, unlike Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe, never compromised in case material. Exclusively offered in precious metal, the Polo was the most decadent and unapologetic release of the time. Today, Piaget’s Polo is regarded as one of the boldest, most beautiful luxury sports wristwatches of all time.
And of course, it comes complete with a certificate of authenticity and appraisal and is shipped carefully and fully insured via UPS expedited service.
