Rolex Datejust 1601
Do you know what a Buckley dial is? It’s a Rolex dial accented by painted Roman numerals; this, my geeks, is a Buckley dial. It’s as rare as it is beautiful and this configuration, a faded champagne, is one of the best I’ve ever seen.
Backing up, the vintage Rolex reference 1601 is my favorite vintage watch, there’s no question. Not only is it incredibly versatile, equally as suitable from the bar to the boardroom, but its quality of construction and legendary are known across the globe. This example, with its crisp steel case, minty yellow gold fluted bezel, custard patina filling the “wide boy” hands and a stunning matte champagne dial, is a dream. Finding Datejusts like this is a hunt, but it’s my favorite hobby. This is one of my favorite watches and I know it’ll never disappoint.
