Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601

The linen dial Datejust is, without question, the watch I am asked to source most often (and for good reason.) If you’ve ever handled one, you’re all too familiar with the way the textured surface reacts to the light – it’s mesmerizing. Whether on a steel jubilee, butterscotch calf strap or burgundy crocodile, this dial will never fail to blow you away.

Backing up, let’s talk about the Datejust for a second. I’ll say it a thousand times – it’s the perfect watch. A vintage Rolex Datejust is one of the few material items that you can both enjoy for the rest of your life and, when the day comes, pass down to the next generation to do the same. A watch like this is never out of place – from scotch and soda on a NATO to boring C-suite meetings on a cordovan strap, it never fails to serve you well, impressing the tasteful.

Dialing back in, this example, with its crispy steel case, rich white gold fluted bezel, stunning linen dial and original jubilee bracelet further proves that less is more and there is still, after all of those years, value in vintage Rolex. This is one of my favorite watches and I know it’ll never disappoint.
