WHY BUY FROM THEO & HARRIS?
FROM THE CURATOR
The Explorer II was introduced in 1971 with the reference 1655. Specifically designed for speleologists, cave explorers, these sporty Oysters were a new breed of Rolex sports models. Fast forward to 1985 and the second reference, the 16550, was launched. Updated in style and fitted with a new movement and sapphire crystal, this was the Explorer II that brought the model into modernity.
This example, which was manufactured in 1988, is a fantastic piece of that early history. Topped with a polar white dial and accented by custard tritium hands and plots, it’s as attractive as it is collectible.
And of course, it comes complete with a certificate of authenticity and appraisal and is shipped carefully and fully insured via UPS expedited service.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Rolex is arguably the most famous brand in the world when it comes to luxury timepieces. Their brand equity is through the roof, and you’d be hard pressed to find another luxury watchmaker who can make watch geeks and non-geeks alike incredibly stoked. Their quality is second to none, and it makes sense that until this day, when someone thinks about James Bond, Magnum P.I. or Glengarry Glen Ross, they think of Rolex.
