IT’S ONE-OF-A-KIND.
ONCE IT’S GONE, IT’S GONE FOR GOOD.
FROM THE CURATOR
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is one of the most significant luxury watches in history, as it was the first to convince the world that steel could be a luxury case material. This 1990s Royal Oak, however, isn’t just your standard steel fare – no, this one is crafted from a combination of rose gold and tantalum. The result is a watch that looks equal parts dressy and sporty, but in a completely different way than it’s more traditional cousin. With this model, AP chose to keep the color palette restricted to just the deep, rich grey of the tantalum and the pink, coppery hues of the rose gold on the dial and indices/hands, respectively. This example also comes complete with its original box and papers, making it not just an uncommon Royal Oak, but a complete package in the process.
Note: $500 is deposit only and not full price. Once the initial deposit is made we will then reach out via email to discuss payment options for the remaining balance.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Audemars Piguet was founded in 1875 by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. To this day, the brand remains family owned and operated. While regarded as masters of complications for some time, it wasn’t until 1972, nearly one hundred years after the brand was founded, that Audemars Piguet became the brand we know them to be today with the launch of the Royal Oak. This Gerald Genta designed timepiece successfully did something nobody in the industry believed could be accomplished – it turned stainless steel into a luxury case material. With this, the Royal Oak became the brands new icon, its new face, and remains such to this day.
