From The Curator
Sometimes, a watch doesn’t need a name on the dial to command respect. This is a classic early 20th-century monopusher chronograph pocket watch, and its beauty lies entirely in its pure, unbranded utility. These “naked” dials were common for military-issued pieces, private label jeweler watches, or simply tool watches where function superseded brand recognition.
The layout is what makes this piece so striking. It features a vertical “up/down” configuration, with a 30-minute chronograph counter at 12 o’clock and the running seconds at 6 o’clock. The stark silver dial is accented by crisp, stylized Arabic numerals and gorgeous thermally blued steel hands that pop beautifully when they catch the light. As a “monopusher,” the entire chronograph function—start, stop, and reset—is operated sequentially through a single button integrated into the crown. It is a raw, mechanical instrument from an era when a watch was an essential tool, not just an accessory.
And of course, it comes complete with a certificate of authenticity and appraisal and is shipped carefully and fully insured.
