Timex and Todd Snyder, an unlikely pairing that has delivered some of the hottest, vintage-inspired, and affordable watches to the market, are back with a new piece- the Todd Snyder x Timex Liquor Store.

Following their wildly successful Marlin line, Timex’s Liquor Store is a blast from the past. Its vintage design elements, paired with conservative modern proportions and automatic movement, make it a winner at first glance. But let’s dig a little deeper.

Front and center, we’ve got a lovely ecru dial. More casual than the silver and black options that are aplenty in Timex’s vintage collection, I’d bet this new arabic configuration will have a wider, younger appeal. They’ve chosen to pair the Liquor Store with an olive green canvas strap, which reinforces that thought.

To differentiate further, its clean steel case, while similar to the Marlin’s, features a thicker bezel and set of lugs and a diameter of 38mm.

The watch is powered by an unspecified Miyota movement. Automatic winding, these movements are accurate, serviceable and, while sometimes a bit noisy, great value propositions.

The Damage

Available in late May 2020 direct from Todd Snyder, the Todd Snyder x Timex Liquor Store will retail for $249.

The Take

In 2017, Timex released the Marlin, their first mechanical watch since 1982. It was met with immediate praise and sold out in a flash. Since, they’ve expanded their vintage experiment with New York clothier Todd Snyder, releasing a black variation of the Marlin and an entirely new piece, the Beekman, in partnership.

Now, the Liquor Store.

A few things are clear. First, it seems like Timex’s vintage collection can do no wrong. Second, it might be the best entry level watch collection in the market.

I eagerly await their next release.
