Rolex invited him to the US Open. But how did he end up on that list?

Christian Zeron sits down with fellow New Jersey watch collector Peter Aziz to talk about what it’s really like to attend the US Open as a guest of Rolex, from how the invitation came about to the incredible watches Peter saw in the room.

Peter talks about his relationship with his Rolex dealer, allocations, waiting for watches, and why he believes being a genuine watch enthusiast, along with simply being a good, likable client, can matter as much as how much someone spends.

They also get into some of the extraordinary Rolex watches Peter saw at the event, including a Tiffany Daytona on Oysterflex, vintage yellow-gold Daytonas, Rainbow Daytonas, a titanium Yacht-Master, and a rose-gold Land-Dweller with diamond baguettes.

From there, Christian and Peter go well beyond Rolex, discussing A. Lange & Söhne, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Cartier, watch-collecting culture, watch events, expensive watches as “investments,” and what separates genuine watch enthusiasts from people simply chasing hype.

How do Rolex’s best clients end up getting invited to events like this?
